The Neonatal and Pediatric Cruise Conference will take place in the Western Caribbean this year, departing on April 15th for 7 days. Our keynote speaker will be the well reputed Dr. Karen Choong talking about neo-natal care in reference to respiratory illness

This year the area of focus is treating respiratory illness, with workshops led by leading healthcare professionals.

We will spend 3 sun filled days on shore (weather cooperating) with the opportunity to visit the beach, local shops, and points of interest.


The cruise departs from Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida.

The first stop is Labadee in Haiti where we will have the option to go on shore.

The next stop is Falmouth, Jamaica then onwards to Cozumel, Mexico and back to Port Canaveral.

Dr. Karen Choong

Dr. Karen Choong holds many great accomplishments to her name. She is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics, Critical Care and Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. Her training began at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where she studied for several years. She received her pediatric training at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, and completed fellowships in Neonatology as well as Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Toronto.

She completed her Masters of Health Research Methodology at McMaster University in 2008, and the is current Medical Director of the PICU at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Choong is an executive member and secretary of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, and is the Pediatric Director of the Canadian Critical Care Society. She sits on the American College of Critical Care Medicine and Society of Critical Care Medicine Guidelines Committee for the Hemodynamic Support in Pediatric and Neonatal Septic Shock, and is an associate editor for the Journal of Pediatric Intensive Care. Dr. Choong has been awarded grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Physician Services Incorporated, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Sick Kids Foundation as the principal investigator to conduct research in the field of septic shock, intravenous fluid management, high flow nasal cannula use and acute rehabilitation in critically ill children.
